Duke Childebrand I, de Provence, Burgundy was born 0678 the son of Duke Fulcoald de Burgundy and his wife Alpaida de Bruyers le Chatel. Duke Fulcoald died in 0680 leaving a wife and two year old son Childebrand who was named after her father Childebrand. Alpaida traveled to Liege, Belgium where she met Pepin II and became his concubine and second wife. Alpaida bore a son by Pepin named Charles Martell in 0686. Childebrand was born of Merovingian blood but raised a Carolingian by Pepin. Charles Martell a Carolingian became the major dominus with Childebrand his half brother his general of the army. Childebrand wrote the Chronicles of Fredegar in which he describes his relationship with Pipin as avuncle or uncle and with Charles as germanous or half brother. His father is found in the charter dated 6 Sep 0667. Fulcoald, Babonis, Adregisli advise King Sigebert to donate to the monastery. Childebrand is found in the charter of 0654 with his sons Fulcoald advocate ..Count Nibelong with Hildebrand petitioning Count Theoderic for villas given to Hildebrand which were occupied by others. Fulcoald and Nibelong were given the villas.
Childebrand and Charles drove the Musliums out of France and
eventually out of Spain. Count Nibelung sons became the Counts of Barcelona, Madrid and Spain. Childebrand's son Fulcoald became the Count of Rouergue and Burgundy.
Charles and Childebrand invaded Bavaria and won the battle bringing back as spoils the daughters of the King of Bavaria whom they made their concubines and wives. Nibelung was born of an unknown woman, perhaps Chrodelinde de Bavaria. Childebrand married Rolande whom gave birth to Count Fulcoald de Rouergue and Burgundy. He married Emma as he grew older. Duke Childebrand died in 0751 leaving his estate in France to Fulcoald and Spain to Nibelung.
