    • Richard Hyde owned Indigo plantation in the West Indies. He was a dyer in Aberdeen, Scotland, and the handsomest man of his day. Elizabeth Bartlett ran away with him one Sunday evening while on her way home from church and their daughter, Helen, was known as the ""Belle of Aberdeen". Family tradition says he was a lineal descendant of Lord Claredon Hyde, an English Gentleman.
