    • The attached article on the history of Belize indocates that numerous british ships traded the Carribbean in the mid to late 1600's.

      It is therefore entirely possible that the Hyde's were involved in this activity, with this David being born in Belize in 1710, probably a ship's master / officer.

      His son Richard was also a ship's captain trading the same area, carrying on the family tradition.
