- "Thomas Smith M, b. circa 1600, d. 1644
"On 10 Feb 1643/4, Thomas Smyth's estate was administered to Sarah Smyth widow of the deceased (N'hamp Co Orders, Deeds, Wills, etc, 1640-45, pp. 178, 203). The widow Sarah married John Hinman, and Sarah had a daughter Anne Smyth. In 1648 the court ordered John Hinman to present an accounting of the estate of the orphans of the deceased and for Anne the wife of John Tilney (N'hamp Co Deeds, Wills, etc., 1645-51, pp. 41, 62, ff. 136, 142). Later Sara Hinman refers to her daughter Tilney (N'hamp Co Deeds, Wills, etc., 1654-55, p. 12). William and Argall Smyth are children of the deceased (N'hamp Co Deeds, Wills, etc., 1651-54, f. 119). Thomas was born circa 1600. He married Sarah (-----) circa 1625. Thomas died in 1644 at Northampton Co, VA.1

Lt. Col. John Tilney was 8 June 1618 in England. He arrived in Accomack, Virginia about 1646. He married Ann Smith, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Smith who was born about 1626. Their marriage was is Northampton, Virginia 1 March 1647. They had 8 children born in Northampton, Virginia and they were likely baptized in the Hungars Episcopal Church:

Ann died in about 1687 and John married 2nd Mary Forecroft born 1662 on 20 May 1668 in Northampton, Virginia. They had a son Thomas "who died young." He was born about 1689, but was not living when John Tilney's Will was in probate 28 May 1701. John died before the Probate and his children are named.
